Belleville’s Best Soups: Burger Revolution & The Kafana Win Big at Savour the Chill
The results are in, and Belleville’s foodies have spoken! The 21st annual Savour the Chill soup competition took over downtown Belleville on Saturday, Feb. 22, and two local favourites walked away with top honours.
Burger Revolution clinched the People’s Choice Award with their Roasted Apple & Butternut Squash soup, while The Kafana impressed the judges with their Turkish Red Lentil Soup, earning the Judges’ Choice Award.
🏆 The Winning Bowls
The Kafana, fresh off last year’s win at Savour the Fall for best mac & cheese, continued its hot streak with another top finish. Their rich and hearty red lentil soup won over judges, including United Way’s Cristina Cadavid, City Councillor Margaret Seu, and real estate expert Joe Shunock.
“I chose The Kafana as my favourite soup because the flavours were authentic and unique. When the soup-making process was explained, I could taste the love that was put into making it,” said Cadavid.
Capers Restaurant landed second place with their Smoked Red Pepper Cream with Brie Crisps, while Burger Revolution secured third place in the Judges’ Choice category.
On the People’s Choice front, Frosty Bubble Bliss’ South Indian Rasam Soup earned second place, with Capers rounding out the top three. And in a true call-your-shot moment, Burger Revolution owner Jeff Camacho predicted his win days before the event. Manifestation works, folks!
