Project Details
The funding will support the urbanization of two key roads:
- Highway 2: From 2nd Dug Hill Road to County Road 40
- 2nd Dug Hill Road: From Highway 2 south for approximately 1.7 km
Planned Upgrades
- Highway 2: Lane widening, the addition of active transportation lanes, and intersection reconfiguration and expansion.
- 2nd Dug Hill Road: Lane widening, intersection improvements, utility relocation, culvert replacement, and the addition of sidewalks and a multi-use pathway.
The need for these upgrades is driven by significant growth and development in the area. Construction on these projects is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2025, with completion expected by the end of 2027.
Supporting Growth and Housing Development
The Housing-Enabling Core Servicing (HECS) stream is part of Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP). It helps municipalities build, maintain, and repair roads, bridges, and culverts to promote growth and enable housing. The City submitted its application for HECS funding for these projects in October 2024.
