Winterfest Brings Winter Fun to Macaulay Village Park

Saturday February 1, 2025, 12-3 PM (alternate weather date: Feb. 8)

Macaulay Village Park, 26 London Avenue, Picton

A number of Prince Edward County organizations and individuals have come together to warm up this chilly season with the third annual Winterfest. This free afternoon of outdoor fun takes place on Saturday, February 1 from noon until 3 at Macaulay Village Park on the Heights, and all are welcome at this all-ages community celebration. “We recognize that the Heights is an under-serviced area,” says Krista Dalby, Artistic Director of The Department of Illumination. “While our free Art Kitchen program runs in this park from spring through fall, winter can be long, and that walk down the hill even longer. We thought we could brighten up winter by bringing a party to the park!” Gabriele Cole, Program Manager at Baxter Arts Centre says, “We’re excited to see our friends and meet new people. The organizations contributing to this event have a lot to offer, and we want people to get to know us and what year-round programming we have available.”

Winterfest is led by arts organizations The Department of Illumination and Baxter Arts Centre in partnership with Prince Edward Learning Centre, Bloomfield/Hallowell and Picton Recreation Committees, NorthFIRE Circus, Picton BIA, Carte, Macaulay Village Neighbourhood Group, Reaching for Rainbows, and the PEC Librairies. The afternoon will include lunch with chili and cornbread on the menu, plus hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows for sweet treats. County Kids Read will be distributing free books for children, there will be a performance from the ABC Choir, and an assortment of fun and games by The Department of Illumination and Baxter Arts Centre. Winterfest is also supported by Base31 and Dunrose Distribution. In case of bad weather, a rain date has been scheduled for February 8, 2025.
